Fashion Styling Categories: We train and certify fashion stylists to work with editorial, retail, photography and entertainment clients and occasionally with one-on-one celebrity clients. This training will help you develop a strong visual sense as well as understand color, proportion and the principles and elements of design.
Image Consulting Categories: We train and certify image consultants to works primarily with individual private clients on their appearance. With this certification, our alumni can go into niche markets and consult with corporate clients as well as do personal shopping, closet edits and wardrobe planning. Education and training slants toward understanding body shape, fit, tailoring, color, hair and personality traits.
Wardrobe Styling Categories: We train and certify wardrobe stylists to be go-to experts at organizing client wardrobes. Graduates might work with individual clients or seek out studio work including photo shoots, fashion shows or editorial. Wardrobe stylists offer services like clothing organization skills, fashion coordination, mixing and matching clothing, styling for fashion shows and photo shoots, closet curating and editing, and line rack organization. They are experts at identifying client clothing and accessory needs and offer shopping services for both male and female clients.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED?
We supply everything you need to complete this training course. Manuals, course notes etc. open as you go along. Do not expect to take delivery of every one of your manuals at the start of the course. We open each new materials packet as you progress through each lesson. If you own or manage a training business or online website offering courses then you are prohibited from purchasing our courses. Due to the copyright nature of our online portals and content we do not allow users to join us who may be intent on copying, borrowing, sampling, discovering or otherwise using the student portal, course content, course materials and other copyrighted formats to benefit their own institution. If a current student or graduate alumni is found to be in violation of this policy they will be removed from our portal and graduate sites and their certification will be nullified. On a case-by-case basis we reserve the right to notify AICI of an ethics violation if this policy is abused. Our courses are strictly for consultants and not for trainers.
b) I am a trainer offering my own courses and would like to license your material
We do not sell our courses directly to institutions or representatives/ employees of educational institutions*. This is a strict policy as our methods are copyright protected and can only be administered by approved and certified online instructors. The nature of our certifications and the awarding of CEUs is possible only through Fashion Stylist Institute. *an education institution is one that engages in training OTHER image and style consultants via workshops, classes, training programs, courses, in-person or one-on-one.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL A COURSE TAKE?
Each course is completed at the students speed and are self paced. When students purchase a course, they are immediately entered into their custom web portal where the course has been docked for them. The coursework is available for up to 3 months (longer for advanced courses) and the student's portal stays open indefinitely. Students will have full access to groups, forums and social media pages even after their course is complete. Students have access to the portal 24/7 so they can choose when and how much time to spend on the course and how quickly they complete it. There is no average "time on the course" — some students spend an hour a day; some spend an hour a week. Offline study times vary as well. Students are expected to study all modules associated with the course and complete all online exercises in preparation for the online final exam. How long this takes is up to the student.
We do require a certain amount of study hours to receive certification. We also require students to meet the learning outcomes and proficiencies for the course before earning CEU’s (Continuing Education Units) or ILU’s (International Learning Units). The TH's (training hours) earned are automatically recorded.
HOW LONG CAN I ACCESS MY STUDENT PORTAL?
As long as you need. While the course contents and modules close once the course is completed, the student portal stays open for the student. Access to groups, wikis, forums and additional course offerings is always available to the graduate.
To access all courses and materials you must have an internet connection enabled for Flash and Video. Your device must have 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi connection for optimal mobile viewing. Our student portal requires students to use the latest updates of all browsers below. Note that using older browsers impacts the quality of the viewing and can even block content from appearing. Your desktop browser and your mobile browser may be different, so both will need to be the latest versions as well. Except for Internet Explorer (IE11), we support the current and previous major releases of the following desktop browsers:

CAN I ACCESS THE COURSE ON A MOBILE DEVICE?
Students can access their course and begin studying on mobile devices (with the exception of the Color Analysis course due to its technicality it requires a PC or Mac). Optionally, students can choose to print the course textbook from their computer in order to review them on paper but we'd rather you stay green and access online with our reader software.
WILL MY CERTIFICATE BE PHYSICAL AND WHAT DOES IT SAY?
Students successfully completing the course are issued a digital certification with a QR code embedded. They can print this onto the paper of their choice. We digitally transmit the certification to you and it states both the certification you achieved, your name, the designation and achievement of the course. HOW ARE THE COURSES DEVELOPED?
Continuing Education approval policies are rigorously followed during the development of all Fashion Stylist Institute’s online courses and programs. Courses are developed to meet industry standards and guidelines and are designed to meet core competencies for image consultant study, CEU awarding and certification. *note: CEU's are not required for certification. All students receive ILU's (International Learning Units) along with a Fashion Stylist Institute digital badge to display on their web site and marketing materials, as well as a badge pack (see below).
Our courses are tested by certified instructors and submitted for board review with Fashion Stylist Institute’s stringent testing panels. These panels meet every six months to review each course, testing the learner outcomes stated in the original training planner.
Learning Management Course Design Standards (ELMCDS) for e-learning are used in the creation of all courses. This process is a 12 to 18 month endeavor. Graphic artists, eLearning developers, video producers and photographers are hired to organize and create the elements for the course. Image editors are recruited to create course imagery. Web administrators are enlisted to publish and monitor student activity.
DO YOU HELP GRADUATES GET A JOB?
FSI prepares students to have a business of their own. Our courses are business start up and are structured for solo entrepreneurs. The very nature of consulting is independent. However, some people work for companies and our knowledge base prepares you to have the skills, tools, techniques, aptitude and self-confidence to be a effective player in the fashion/style and image consulting career world. ARE THE COURSES TAILORED TO GEOGRAPHIC NUANCES? FOR EXAMPLE, I LIVE IN MUMBAI AND OUR CULTURE IS DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF THE US. WILL THIS TRAINING PROVIDE ME WITH TOOLS TO CONSULT IN MY PART OF THE WORLD?
A great question! We do get this one quite often, since online learning is global. Our courses provide the consultant with universal knowledge about women, shape, fit, color and personality. We provide you with the fundamental tools for consulting with clients, and you can customize your business your way upon graduation. HOW DO I TEST ONCE I AM FINISHED WITH THE COURSE?
All final exams are included with the course materials. A passing score of 85% is needed for professional certification.

CERTIFICATION, ILU's AND CEUs
HOW ARE THE COURSES OFFERED?
e-Course / Online / Awarding Certification
All courses offer professional certification. All students are awarded ILU's (International Learning Units) upon course completion at no additional charge. One course = 1 ILU.
e-Course / Online / FSI CEU
Continuing Education Unit + Certification CEUs are awarded to students who need education credits to maintain their certification status. Contact your organization for info on pre-approval of CEU course attendance. Once in the course portal you will need to achieve learning outcomes, pass exams and fulfill all requirements for CEU earning.
IS FSI AN AUTHORIZED CEU PROVIDER?
Yes. FSI is an approved provider of both the ILU and the CEU with LERN. We are a registered LERN provider for continuing education learning and online credit awarding. Students taking our courses can be assured that our credit awarding is based on stringent learning methods that are in advance of the CEU, however, some organizations (such as AICI) require CEU's for their members. Some organizations require prior approval to take CEU courses so be sure to check if you need this. Note to AICI members - check with AICI for permission to receive CEU's before enrolling in our programs (see below). Most of our courses are AICI CEU approved - check course for details.
WHAT IS AN ILU?
ILU stands for “International Learning Unit” — a unit applied to successful completion of a lifelong learning course. The ILU is the recognized education credit for online learners. This credit awards for outcomes achieved and learning accomplished and surpasses the CEU system of "time based" awarding. Students on every course must meet required learning outcomes. An ILU is not a time-based measurement. All our online courses are competency-based; learners must achieve built in outcomes and pass all quizzes with at least an 80% pass rate. We are an approved ILU-awarding institution, a certifying institute and a professional member of LERN. All instructors are also certified in online instruction (COI by LERN).
HOW DO I GET MY AICI CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUS)?
If you are qualifying for AICI CEU requirements and you meet our policy as a "consultant" (not a trainer*) then click here for details. Take these steps:
1. Download and complete this Pre Approval Form for AICI
2. Submit the form for pre-approval as instructed on the form
3. Once AICI approved then join your course in this portal
4. Your CEU awards will be posted to your course awards in FSI along with official CEU documentation
5. Submit the documentation to AICI to have your credit hours applied to your AICI account.

DO THESE COURSES OFFER CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUS)?
Yes, and all courses offered are in line with core competencies for image consultant study. Students are required to complete all assignments, quizzes, essays, final projects and to achieve learning outcomes and pass a final exam with an 85% pass rate, in order to earn FSI CEUs.
